This sculpture piece is made of plaster of Paris. The term Hemp, which means ‘the cannabis plant’, can also be used to describe marijuana which Rasta holds in high regard. Most Rastafarians (referring to the male gender) in Jamaica, have a special type of respect towards their women by referring to them as ‘empress’. This ‘empress’ within the art work is seen amongst the colors of Rastafarian, to show that she has the power as her name suggests. Red which means blood of the black martyrs, yellow; richness of their homeland, Africa (mostly their gold), and green; lushness and the natural beauty of the land.
